Config / Global Routing

Match a Rule, Then Apply Its Policy

Global Routing determines how connections are handled. With Config selected, the client reads the active configuration and checks its rules from top to bottom, applying the policy for the first match. PROXY sends traffic through the selected server, DIRECT connects without a proxy, and REJECT blocks the request. Proxy and Direct modes do not route traffic through these individual rules. To troubleshoot a website's route, first check the mode and active configuration, then review rule order and the FINAL fallback. Changing rules alone will not help if Config is not enabled.

Device Availability and App Store

iPhone and iPad Availability

The App Store is the only place to get the app. Check the product listing, then confirm your device and purchase account. See the App Store listing for system requirements and purchase availability.

Mac and Apple TV availability is also listed on the same App Store page; check its compatibility details.

First-Time Authorization and Connection

The system prompt to add a VPN configuration is required to establish the relevant network connection. Make sure the prompt was triggered by your current action, then confirm as directed by the system. Authorization only allows the device to establish a connection; it does not confirm that the server address, authentication details, or rules are correct. Return to Home, select an existing server, turn on the connection, and verify access.

Recheck Device Settings After Switching Devices

App purchase history, configuration files, and server availability are separate things. Use the original account to check for the purchased app, but on a new device also confirm that files have synced, the right configuration is enabled, and server details are complete. Restoring the app from the store does not restore all configuration automatically. Check the device first, then adjust automatic connection settings.

Purchase and App Authenticity

Check the Official App Store Listing and One-Time Purchase Details

Shadowrocket is a closed-source commercial app. This official manual explains how to use it based on the App Store listing and in-app interface terms. Check the product details before purchasing, then verify your own connection information before use.

Check These Three Details on the Same Product Page

Check that the app is named Shadowrocket, the developer is Shadow Launch Technology Limited, and the icon matches the official icon shown in this site's header. Also confirm that the product page URL includes id932747118. All three details should match; do not rely on the name in search results alone. Search results may include apps with similar names, so open the product page and check its details. Once verified, purchase, redownload, and update the app through the App Store.

Check Store Availability and Account Region Separately

Whether the product page appears, allows a purchase, or displays a particular currency depends on the App Store storefront and account status. If you cannot find it in search, use this site's availability guide to check the correct product page, then review device compatibility, account region, and store messages. A missing search result does not necessarily mean the client has a problem. The App Store listing determines the price, system requirements, and purchase availability; this site cannot determine whether your account is eligible to purchase.

The One-Time Purchase Covers the App License

The US storefront reference price is $2.99 as a one-time purchase. Other storefronts show local currencies; the actual amount is the one shown on the App Store page before payment. The app purchase does not include a proxy service subscription. Buying the app does not create a server connection or provide a subscription. The instructions that follow assume you already have a valid subscription or server details. This site does not provide, sell, or recommend any servers or subscriptions. Check the validity and availability of your connection details with your own provider.

Restoring a Purchase Does Not Restore Configuration

When switching devices or reinstalling, sign in with the Apple Account used for the original purchase and find Shadowrocket in your App Store purchase history. If the page still shows a price, check the current store account against the original purchase before paying again. See the App Store listing for purchase eligibility on iPhone and iPad, compatibility with other devices, and Family Sharing terms. After restoring the app, separately check existing subscriptions, the active configuration, and system connection authorization before using it.

Handle App Updates, Subscription Updates, and Rule Changes Separately

Update the app through the App Store. Updating a subscription refreshes the server list from a subscription you already have. Editing Config changes local routing behavior. These actions solve different problems. If a server list is out of date, updating the app alone will not fix it; if a request takes the wrong route, refreshing a subscription may not help. Keep a working configuration before making changes, and verify access after each action so you can identify which setting caused an issue.

Common Questions for First-Time Users

I purchased the app. Why is there no server in Home?

The purchase is for the client. Add a server list using a subscription or server details you already have. Confirm the information is complete, then open Add Server and choose the appropriate import method. If the list is still empty after importing, check the link and any parsing message instead of purchasing the app again. See the import steps →

The connection switch is on. Why can't I access anything?

An enabled switch does not mean the destination is reachable. First verify the system network, then check the server settings and selection, followed by Global Routing and the active configuration. If only certain destinations fail, check the relevant rules and request records. See how to verify a connection →

Do I still need to configure rules after importing a subscription?

Subscriptions mainly manage server details; a rule configuration determines how requests are handled in Config mode. Check whether the existing configuration meets your needs. Seeing servers in the list does not mean the rules are enabled. After making changes, confirm the active file and mode, then test with an actual request. Read about Global Routing →

Data shows traffic activity. Does that mean routing is correct?

Data shows traffic activity, but the total alone cannot tell you which policy was applied to a destination. Check the test period alongside actual access results and diagnostics. Traffic statistics also do not replace usage records in your own provider account; the two may be calculated differently. See the troubleshooting steps →

Purchase & Restore

How to Restore Shadowrocket After Switching Devices or Reinstalling: Redownload It from App Store Purchases

Check your purchase history with the Apple Account used for the original purchase, and distinguish redownloading the app from restoring configuration data. If the account or storefront region does not match, check the purchase history and store message before proceeding. This can help avoid mistaking a restoration issue for a need to purchase again.
